Choosing Your Wedding Decorations
If you are in the midst of planning your wedding, the entire process can seem overwhelming. Remember to take a deep breath and take it one step at a time. If you are planning an outdoor wedding at the beach, or at some exotic location then chances are you already have a theme for your wedding and reception. But if you are planning a more traditional wedding, chances are you will need to plan ahead and think about what decorations you want for the church and reception.
If you have absolutely no idea, consult with your groom and brides maids. They may have some great ideas that you never thought of!
Most certainly the place you have the wedding will dictate the choice of decorations. Most brides decorate the church and reception with flowers. If that is the case, then you will need to choose the type of flowers you want.
Have fun! Think about your some fun, festive wedding favors you can have for guests depending on your theme. If you are planning a beach wedding, you may want to pass leis or sand dollars to your guests. Or, how about a Las Vegas wedding, with poker chips for your guests?
So think venue and then plan around it. Also include some personal mementos or cultural flavor. If you are of an Indian descent, you may want to give guests a sachet of cardamom to make tea, or if you are Irish, how about some shamrocks with your names printed or engraved on them.
Also, consider the season. If you are planning a wedding close to Christmas, that could certainly be your theme. Or how about a Valentines Day or Easter wedding? You could have hearts as your theme for Valentines Day with stamped candies. Or how about an Easter egg hunt at your reception?
Think creatively. If you are a crafty person, you could make your own decorations possibly using silk flowers and possibly some small baskets filled with treats. Or, how about a donation to a charity in all of your guests names? You can note this information on place cards and put the information on the table, if guests would like to donate more in the bride and grooms name. If you are a gardener you could use the peppers in your garden to make hot sauce for everyone? Or, if you like to make jam, how about a jar of freshly made strawberry jam?
Certainly, it is hand made gifts that are most memorable and your guests will cherish and remember the day for the rest of their lives. Just keep in mind that it will most likely be the most, memorable special day of yours so, try to make it a special day for everyone.
